    Hi

I'll appreciate your thoughts & advices please.

My Feb '04 2.5TDi Avant (2WD) has just racked up 93k miles & I think that this cold winter has alomost killed the glow plugs.

After 2+ days of non-use the plug light now takes several seconds to go out & then the engine fires reluctantly, is very rattley (yes, I know it's a diesel ) & is very smokey.

Does all of the above sound like knackered glow-plugs & if so any idea how much I should budget for getting them changed? Doing them myself is not an option - mainly due to my mechanical incompetence!

    Thanks.

    Dunc.

What colour is the smoke and are you using any fluids?

Does the rough running improve when it's up to temp?

The plugs are well known to break in the head when being removed.
they should be soaked in plus gas a couple of days before removal.
Give the garage the heads up when you take it in !!

First thing to check is if you got ceramic plugs or metal ones metal are easy to change but ceramic ones you got to be careful you don't crack them so before you buy just find out what is fitted to your car I thing the metal ones have a red ring on the top but not 100% sure
eye for an eye means the whole world goes blind
