Quick question, I have the S model Passat Estate. On the dash it doesn't have the coin drawers. I found these ont ebay: Linky

Just wondering if I can fit these to my S model? The S model doesn't have the separate bits of dash and there is a plastic cover over the holes when you take the trim off. Would I just have to cut these out and it should fit?

Do you mean to say the S models don't have the ciggy boxes as standard?

I wouldn't be without mine, I use one to keep my pre - rollies in and the other I put my black book in, but soon I will need to find somewhere else as all those chick numbers I have is meaning I need a thicker book

I never use mine. Any time I put money in it rattles out and you have to pull the drawer out to rescue it.

I would guess that there will be some sort of mechanism that needs be in there aswell, but can't remember.

I hardly use them so would probably prefer to have your type of trim where it's one strip around the hazard light button....

I don't use them either, instead I find the storage pocket under the key switch more useful. It's bigger and not many people know that its there (more secure).

    True. Me too.

I use the 'coin drawers' for other teeny weeny bits 'n bats, such as sweeties, etc.
    ... hope.

In France you have to have a euro or euro-sized token to release your supermarket trolley. We keep our token in the one of the coin drawers.

Other than that they are a complete waste of time as a coin drawer imo. You can't see into them, and they will dump their coins out given half a chance - their slope guarantees they will collect all the coins in the bottom.

    You're better off without them.

The plate you are seeing is a carrier for the Hazard light switch, if you remove the top trim above the hazard warning switch you will see two screws holding that plate in place.

    The retrofit process would be:

1- remove the trim around the hazard warning switch, remove the trim to the instruments and pull back the first 6inch of the trim above the glove box.
(Warning dont try and remove the trim above the glove box its held in by a screw, this can only be accessed if you remove the glove box!)

2- remove the two screws holding the hazard switch carrier plate

3- remove the plate, disconnect the hazard switch

4- fit trim parts to the upgrade trinket trays. You will need the two for the draws and one for the hazard switch. This could be part of a further upgrade

5- fit the hazard switch to the trinket tray assembly

6- connect the wire to the hazard switch, insert the trinket trays and secure with the two screws.

7- refit the trim and the new hazard warning switch trim

    8- test and that it!!

Easy and a worthwhile upgrade, they provide useful small items storage

    Hope that helps.

    Martin
