Hi all. My Audi S4 Avant failed MOT on a few things. All fixed now except for the Steering Rack gaiter.

The gaiter is loose on the inside end of the steering rack. Outside is OK.

All it needs is a Cable Tie! However I'm buggered if I can see how to fix one on.

Can anyone suggest how this is done please? the gaiter is in tact, just needs securing....

    Many thanks

    Bob

so from this thread on fitting a new steering rack, it appears there is an access panel to get to the gaiter?

Will have a look tomorrow before the MOT retest...

If your not a gynecologist..... you'll have to remove the 2

Hi, Bobhig - how did it go? My 98 A6 2.8SE has just failed on a split gaiter and my mechanic asked if I had a workshop manual as it looked difficult to get at to fix.
Did you have to remove the steering rack or could it be done from the sides through the access panels?
I would very much appreciate a reply from anyone as Bobhig may not see this new reply to such an ancient post!

    Thanks in anticipation,

    JohnF
