no experience with headrests but i have installed a non oem freeview tv.

where i live in coventry, freeview reception is crap on the car but good on the house, this is due to the car being at a lower level than the house and the fact that there is a ruddy great hill with Meriden on the top btween coventry and the transmitter at Sutton Coldfield.

    Easy enough to do.

I was looking at getting freeview for the sat nav unit, but after realising that TV is generally crap, and I dont watch much of it at home, I figure what is the point?

Ive been searching and found some replacement units that have DVD/Sat nav which I think I am going to go for.

I also want to have 2 x screens in the back for my daughter. I was looking at the fitted head rest screens, or possibly roof mounted ones... all depends on price, and the difficulty of fitting? I wont be doing it myself but will have someone do it properly for me.

Ive seen loads on ebay etc but are there any people have used and recommend? Also the head rest ones would have to fit in with the exisitng seat trim?

Another option would be to use my existing head rests and have screen fitted into them, how much do you think this would cost?

I wouldn't convert your existing head rests. Buy replacements with the screens already fitted. Any decent company will have a colour march for your interior fabric and the leads will be routed within the metal struts and within the seat back. I saw some on a website some time ago but can't find the site now.

    Try these

    cheers,

Ive spent the morning searching the internet... replacement headrest monitors are easy to come accross, im looking to pay between £165-£200 for twin 9" DVD/Monitor untits, which Im quite happy with price wise.

One area im not 100% clear on is the standard Sat Nav system. Does this already have a DVD function built into it? I have been trying to find aftermarket replacements but Ive struggled.

Ive found one or two, ranging from £370-£550. As I am still in the process of buying my car I dont know whether to hold out for one with the Sat Nav already, or just buy an aftermarket one?

The standard sat nav will not play dvd. You will need a separate player which you plug the screens in to. Hold out for a car with sat nav.

would it not be easier to get a unit that has both dvd and sat nav, rather than having a seperate DVD unit? They are a direct replacement....
