    Hi,
So i bought a GOLF MK4 GT TDI 100,000 Miles on the clock and its running nice until now.
It idles fine but slightly noisier than it used to but when i press the clutch fully in it goes nice and quiet (or as quiet as a diesel can do).
Just noticed now though that when i press the pedal half way down to the biting point without putting it in gear it makes a right racket that sound like dry bearings whirring around, but when my foot is all the way down it goes!?!?
Just to compound things when i am driving along nicely i notice now that the gear stick vibrates sometimes like a BRRR ing noise.
At the end of me tether anyone got any ideas???
Think the clutch could be one problem but what else???

    Hi
Can you let me know how you get on with the vibrating gearstick please.
I also have that aswell as excessive movement. ! Thought it was engine mountings but ave never had it investigated.
    Thanks.

Well I took it to garage and all in all looks like DMF and the clutch. The car has a shake when ticking over caused by the flywheel and he thinks this is causing the gear stick vibration when driving. He is time served VAG engineer so will take his word for it. £560 plus VaT all in! Will let you know if it solves the gear stick wobble next Friday when it's done.
