    Morning all.......its been a while

Had my car MOT yesterday passed no probs except sidelight, I was a bit nervy about the brakes as at the last service they said they'd need doing soon. MOT guy said brakes were only half worn.......result

Driving to work this morning, computer tells me to check the brakes.

Who do I believe MOT guy or car computer??

    Any suggestions would be good

VW always say you need new brakes.

I was told on my 40k service my pads had 1000 miles left, 5000 miles later the warning came on, 1000 miles after that I changed them.

Computer is usually right, but check the pads yourself to be sure.

Warning means you have "about" 1000 miles worth left.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

    hiya bengt

I wondered where you went, thought you'd left us

I believe in physically looking at brake pads whether the car or MOT man tells you.

the other halfs fiesta passed its MOT and they gave an advisory on either pads or dics (can't remember). I had the wheels off and theres about 5mm on all pads on the front and the discs could do with renewing. but at 4000 miles per year, the pads can last a bit more and then we'll change discs and pads all together.

Realy Ben its up to you. the car will tell you bacause the pad has word down enough so that the sensor built in to them had been activated.

Whip the wheels off and look for your self. Its Free.
