On my B5.5 I replaced the number plate bulbs with LED ones and was quite happy with their appearance. Here is a wee photo...

Looking to do the same to my B6 now, the issue I have is that I also ordered these same bulbs for my Dad's 2006 A6 and they didn't work and chucked up an error code he had to get reset at the dealership and replaced with OEM bulbs.

Is the same going to happen with my B6? Should I buy specific ones?

Look for xtec ones on eBay. Mine are 18months old and still working well. They will match your current look, and won't throw up errors.

Cant remember the make but I got mine off ebay and they are the ones that have 9 or 12 leds per unit with the built in canbus error free unit. They cost about £20 odd but they are fantastic. Just dont look at them directly when you lift the boot........ come to think of it, I wish my headlights were as bright.

Had a look through at what is available, these ones seem to be the cheapest at £7.50 delivered - think they are worth a pop?

There is some information here explaining why bulb warnings occur with some LED's.

As someone else said, the XTEC ones are good. Very bright as well.
