Something must be wet inside to give you all the condensation on the windows. The usual culprits are:
    • Blocked pollen filter drain
    • Blocked sunroof drains
    • Dodgy windows carrier plate seal

The pollen filter can be one reason
Does the vehicle have AC? if so it can be the recirculation flap which is stuck closed

The pollen filter is under the n/s windscreen cowling and the drains are near the hinges of the front doors. Do a search in the Mk4 section and you'll find lots to read. Might be worth buying a Haynes manual. This will help you with finding & fixing lots too. Very handy to have it around.

    Hi,

is your rear windscreen washer working?....I had a nasty incident when frost popped a pipe out of its junction (above rear parcel shelf, inside the headlining) and water filled the rear quarter panel and poured through rear of headlining onto parcelshelf....lots of condensation....lots of bits to take out to put pipe back...mental note: ALWAYS use washer fluid with an antifreeze agent NEVER neat water.......

PS if you take out the pollen filter and operate the recirculate button whilst looking down into where it was you will see the flap open and close....now you see the fan ....now you don't. If drain is blocked the pollen filter will be soaking!
Drains on sunroof can become unconnected from their rubber exit grommets (the bit in the A post near the hinge) this lets water run down inside the windscreen pillar....another nightmare.......seems very hard freezing has been popping all sorts of pipes loose - so the word in the trade goes... good luck in finding your leak!
