    What size socket is required to remove the driveshaft retaining nut on a Polo 1.2, 2002 please? Thanks

    Mine was a 32mm the replacement nut from volkswagen is a big alan key think its 22mm if i remember correct.

    Think mine is 32...its not 30mm, tried and failed with that size. Is it a standard multipoint socket?

    Just been out and pulled the wheel trip off its wait for it 36mm, biggest problem i had was not the nut but the shaft was seized in the hub, ended up round a mates with a big press to push the shaft out.

    No, it is a definitely 12 point 36-mm but the socket needs to be thin wall and flat faced. I modified my old ¾” drive socket I used to use on Beetle rear hub nuts by grinding the face flush and grinding down the outside diameter until it fitted inside the hub centre. The VW tool number is T10125.
