    Yours is bound to improve with a few more miles on the clock mate. I have 18k on mine, and have to try really hard to get 32mpg! Fun trying though! On a mixed commute I get 38 worst, 44 best- all dependent on traffic speed etc. With town driving I'm always high 30's.

    What an engine though eh?

    I've not worked out mpg yet, but it's dis-heartening to see the range for a full tank of 360 miles using Optimax!!!

    Just done a quarter tank on the fuel gauge with circa 50 miles!!!

    Only done around 600 miles so far;

    I got 55 MPG today taking it easy on single carriageway roads between Lowerstoft and Bury St Edmunds (about 60 miles).

    Thats the best I have achieved. Averaged 45 MPG since I got the car with 34k on the clock...its about to tick over 60k now.

    100% agree about the cruise...it improves my efficiency on a motorway run by several MPG.

    Been thinking about my mpg and logging how many miles I get after a fill up.

    It's been on a downward spiral and I think it started when the winter set in.

    Full tank, (35miles range on DIS between filling) I've got only 471 miles!!! Assessing how much I get on a truly empty tank is difficult as I don't wanna be stuck at some ungodly hour. I felt it was much better before it got cold. Thought it was my tires but have since changed to a winter set.

    Can the winter weather account for this?

    Don't know about the weather affecting mpg, but I'm sure the winter Tyres play their part.

    Surely by their nature (tread pattern & softer compound) they would offer more friction, and hence use more fuel to run?

    Saying that, I'd still love a set.

    I thought they offered better fuel consumption in the cold? Drat!

    I read recently that winter tyres can take up to 10% more fuel. They recommend you swap them out as soon as you can due to that and also they don't last long if used on dry surfaces and warmer temperatures.
