    Hi there,
I recently bought my first Audi. An 07 A6 Avant.
My entire MMI system seems to have stopped working.
I had it in at a garage (not Audi dealer) for new brake pads and front discs.
They apparently switched the radio, and MMI, off so as not to run battery down. When I collected the car and drove it home I couldn't manage to switch it on again. When I press the on/off button or any of the function buttons the MMI "start up" image briefly comes up and then fades away after about 5 to 10 secs. The function buttons also briefly illuminate for about 2 or 3 secs but its very faint.
I have tried to re-boot using the SETUP + Centre rotary Knob + top right control button but this only gives the same result as the on/off switch.

Anyone got any ideas about what has happened or how to fix this?

    Thanks

    Bill

We disconnected the battery for 30 mins this afternoon.
Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem.
Don't know what to try now - apart from taking it to main Audi dealer...!

Look for a member in your area in the vagcom section and have the car scanned for faults.

Hi again. Took the A6 to Audi Dealer. They said:
"Radio Amplifier defective - requires new part!"
"Sat nav unit defective - requires new part"
"Phone ECU defective - requires new part."
    Total cost £2,000+ !!!
They claim that the Amp has been damaged from water leaking from Rear Wash/Wipe pipe. The Rear Jet nozzle is partly blocked. They also want over £200 to replace nozzle and pipe!
    I'm not happy.
I've heard about the rear wash nozzle becoming blocked offten on Avant models. Sounds like a design fault to me. I'm not willing to pay +£2K for water damage to electrical items on a 3 and 1/2 year old car because the rear Washer Nozzle became blocked. Is that really what we are to expect from Audi/German quality engineering???

I have same problem. Garage has told me I have to replace the control unit - apparently located behind glove box. Cost is astounding. Am looking to get part through salvage.
