I know that the subject of MPG has appeared before on the forum and that Audi, along with other manufacturers, over states the efficiency of their cars but was wondering what sort of MPG 3.0 oil burner owners are getting in the real world.

After filling up last week I've been trying hard not to be overly heavy with the loud pedal (haven't been 100% succesful ) and a combination of a couple of motorway journies and shorter (20 mile) commutes along A roads looks like giving me about 33MPG.

Nothing like the quoted figure but still better than I was getting from the Laguna.

So what sort of numbers are others seeing and in what conditions?

That is about the same as me.

30-35mpg, but got 45 today on a long run at motorway speeds, including a couple of 50mph roadwork sections.

I would be interested to know what MPG 3litre owners get who have been remapped. I have spoken to a couple of remappers who state that they have heard of 10mpg improvements afterwards.

I have also noted that the mpg average of 30 odd does not really seem to be affected by the loud pedal too much. In fact it seemed that if i went mpg hunting at around the 1200 rpm mark, it was worse. Perhaps the cars need to be pushed a little ?

    Similar story here.

Regular run to work gets me between 32 and 37 depending on how big a rush I am in. The average speed for a journey of 48 miles mixed A and B roads and motorways evenly has a big impact on economy, >65mph average = <32mpg whereas 50-55mph average = >35mpg.

If I turn off the aircon (!) I get around 1mpg better (I get bored on my commute)

Drove Durham to Peterborough and back today and averaged 40.3mpg (according to DIS) with fast motorway driving most of the way with a 50mph section.

I do find that when I am on the phone my driving style becomes more economical - must be less assertive?

Best ever was 44.1 mpg driving like a saint at no more than 70mph. Worst is <28 driving like I stole it...

    Can't complain.

Just wondering, to everyone quoting their MPG figures, are you working out between fills or reading from the trip computer?

My trip computer was approx 4 to 5% off - optimistically of course! A friend with VCDS sorted it for me.

I'm working it out between fills... estimated at the moment based on range remaining for this tank

Todays figure was from the car (not corrected) but the others are calculated between fills. Car is, like you say, about 5% optimistic. Haven't got around to correcting it yet - todays run was my callibration run.

I get around 35mpg in town driving and 40-43 on the motorway at a decent cruising speed With so many roadworks these days and average speeds of 50mph, I often see 45+mpg on longer drives (150+ miles)

So as a rough guide, I believe the tank is about 64/65 Litres, how many miles are you guys getting from a full tank down until you see the fuel light?

On the Quattro the tank is 64 litres and I'll let you know in a day or so

My average for the 20,000 kms that I've had my Allroad is 34.4 mpg or 8.21 L/100km. This is from the Road trip iPhone app which I use everytime I fill up so I think that it's fairly accurate. The mpg on the DIS is quite a bit different!

I've just had some winter tyres on 17" rims fitted (from 18") so will be interested to see if that affects the mpg.
