Drove to work in the rain last week and wipers worked fine. Left the car in the car park and then had to pop out. The windscreen was covered in water. Turned the wipers on and nothing happened. Cleared the windscreen with a squeege and carried on with the journey. After about 5 mins tried wipers again and they worked fine. Didnt really think much of it - thought it was something I was doing! Then tried to spray washer jets over the weekend and sometimes they were fine and other times there was nothing (and there was definately water in the bottle!!) and then the wipers had the same issue, sometimes they would respond other times they wouldnt. Can anyone shed any light on what I might be doing wrong?! It would seem like an intermittent fault but I just cant believe it is.

Just did a quick forum search and found a thread which suggested that the Bonnet switch could cause this fault.

I guess if the bonnet is open it stops the wipers and washers, so if you have a dodgy switch or "actuation" of the switch, then this could cause what you have.

As I say, only what I read so could be a million miles off the mark

You should have got a dash warning if bonnet was open.

Could be a faulty wiper stalk, I suppose?

There are no warning lights on so I am assuming it cant be the open bonnet issue. I have 2 months of warranty left so would like it sorted by then - I am just fearful that the dealer wont be able to find anything wrong when they test it!
