    Hi

    I have come to do the pads on the front of my A6 4.2 and the whole bleed nipple sheared off and was already missing on the other side.

    Anyone know where a good place to get remanufacture calipers is?

    thanks

    David

    I always use brakes international for brake spares;

    Well the sorry saga continues and the car has been off the road for a while.

    Getting the calipers off was nigh on impossible without butchering the brake hose so that has to be replaced as well.

    On the + side I have found a couple of remanufactured calipers. Brakes International are really helpful and trying to restore theold ones also as they have an alloy casting which does create difficulties.

    Therefore I have also bought a couple of remanufactured ones.

    Is it me or does every job always turn into a huge job??? I hope its just me that has this frustration!!!

    All

    I found a place to do the replacement clipers, one side from Brakes International and the other from AtoZ car spares on Ebay, both with good service.

    The Audi now stops, however after a recent spate of rain it no longer start, this one is fighting me all the way

    One of the best ways of removing a sheared caliper bleed nipple is to use a smallish torx bit or splined bit that can be driven into the nipple hole and then removed in the normal manner. The splined bits are better at this sort of thing as they have sharp shoulders on the splines but I have had success with torx bits. A good dose of penetrating fluid before and left overnight can help. Most nipples are overtightened leading to seizure. They only need to be lightly "nipped" up .
