Just taken out my old head unit to be replaced by a RNS510, can I put the GPS antenna under the dash or is it better on top?

This is all I can see at the moment.... and it's dark outside

In my Passat I stuck it top right of the windscreen and it picked up reception excellently, as there is no tray like in the Golf. In the Tiguan, I have put it on the inside of the wing on drivers side (accessed by the fuel box on drivers side, and the reception is equally as good.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

Did you have to take the dash apart to feed the cable on the passat or is it possible to feed the cable through various holes without doing this?

    Nick.

    Nick,

No need to remove the dash. I took the fuse cover off (right hand side), unclipped the cubby box (in line with your right knee) and fed it through to the radio this way. I didn't need to get any of the dash out, and was quite straight forwards.

    Hope this helps.
