I bought some for the ridiculous weather we have had recently. My A6 S Line with the multi tronic box was useless, I couldn't even get it off the drive.

New wheels arrive with Continental Winter Contacts and the car is like a 4x4...I can get off the drive now!

I would certainly recommend them if anyone hasn't but is thinking about them.

Axa insurance also didn't have any issues with me using winter wheels and tyres.

Hey neebsta, been thinking of doing the same cos like you couldn't believe how bad my Le Mans was in the snow!

What wheel/tyre combo did you go for? Is it 17" rims you've got the Conti's sitting on? I'm struggling to justify the £1120 Audi want for their winter wheel and tyre programme to the wife so been looking to go down the eBay route for alternatives.

    Cheers

    Hi There,

I got these off german eBay! They seem to have a lot for sale, this process was fraught with 'google translate' and 'babelfish' lol!!

All 4 wheels were in 10/10 condition and the tyres each a minimum of 6.5-7mm of tread.

Wheels I got are genuine Audi ones, exactly the same as the ones available through the Audi winter wheel programme 7x17" ET42 with continental winter contact 3 in 225/50r17 (if you are going for the avant get the correct load rating)

It's also important if you do buy from Germany be careful of the 'dot' rating. This is the manufactured date (I think) and you don't want anything older than 2/3 years, tyre wise that is.

I would post pictures but I don't know how!

As I travel to France a few times each winter I bought some winter tyres for my A6 Avant. Fitted new (non Audi) 205/60/16 alloy wheels as listed in the owners handbook (£240 delivered from alloywheels.com) with Pirelli Sottozero tyres (£105 a corner). Greater the tyre height ratio, cheaper the tyres can be. Absolutely brilliant. Fit them in November, remove them in March.

Neebsta, do you mind me asking how much you paid for a set from german ebay?

Also, who was the seller as I've had no joy with trying to source a seller who's willing to ship to the UK.

Hello shipping was 120 euros Wheels 650 euros. In £'s 649. Half the price of new from the dealer, and you would not tell the difference. All wheels completely blemish free.

I did try tyremen near hull as it's close to home and they had advertised winter wheel packages....they had no wheels left and couldn't get tyres either (popular for obvious reasons)

Seller was vollgasrs6 not sure if he'll have anymore? But if you search on eBay.de for audi Winterrader which is winter wheels, you'll get loads of them. Mostly genuine audi, as it is a legal requirement in Germany.

    Cheers

Whats the correct winter wheel size for my Le mans avant?
Looking on ebay.de they are nearly all 16" with 55 profile tyres on but some are 17" with 50 profile tyres.
Which is correct or does it not matter?

I don't think it matters. The options for different sized wheels suitable for your car should be printed on the inside of your fuel filler flap. I just went for 17 inch as the alloy is only 1 inch smaller than the standard summer wheels. Also the wheels I bought are exactly the same as the winter wheels offered by uk audi dealers for the A6.
If I can help any further just post up a question!

    Cheers
