Hi All, not sure if anyone can help but I am being driven nuts here! I bought my Golf (second hand) a month or so ago and had an MP3 cable fitted at the same time as my Parrot Handsfree kit.

The Parrot is working fine, but try as I might, I can't get the MP3 working at all. The garage who fitted have twice told me that there should be a switch in the glove box to switch the MP3 on, but I can't bloody find it!!

Seen various posts that say pressing the CD button twice should make it work, but nothings happening!

I can get the car to the garage on Tuesday to have them point it out to me as I'm sick of the phone calls, but wanted to work it out for myself as I have a long drive tomorrow!!

The car has the factory standard radio fitted, with a single CD player. I've tried going into the menu's but can't see anything obvious in there as to how I might switch to another mode.

Any ideas would be very very gratefully received. Happy to admit that I am a dumb girl when it comes to cars!!!!

Thanks very much in advance all.

Thanks Phil, I imagine that's where they fitted it, but pressing the CD button def doesn't work, have tried with a CD in and without, and with two different ipods.

Read something about the Aux having to be switched on at a VW garage before it will work, but that was a US site so not sure if its the same in the UK.

    thanks again though

there is a very strong chance that the ipod lead is not fitted correctly in the quadlock on the rear of the headunit

Thanks, guess I'll have to stick to the radio and CDs for the 7 hour round trip tomorrow and take it to the garage on Tuesday

well if you have a torx 20 socket or screw driver you could take the headunit out and have a look

here a very useful guide, it really only takes about 20 mins to remove and refit the headunit

Excellent stuff, cheers Phil, I'm not too much of a girl to give it a go, will have to try and butcher something around the house to use as a facia remover, but think I've probably got something in the IT tool kit to remove the bolts (the joys of being an IT engineer! )
