I'm sorry if this has been covered previously.......

Im eventually getting a single DIN conversion with RNS-E done by OEM Retrofits and was just wondering:

    - Is there a latest map version?

    - Will my MFSW control any part of the the RNS-E unit? inc Radio etc?

    - Are there any known faults when using the red DIS when coded to display Nav route?

    Hope you lot can help,

    Cheers

Yes there is a 2010 map DVD available.

MFSW will control it, (track up/down. volume, radio station up/down etc)

the well documented 'red DIS bug', when Nav is active you need to turn the RNS-e off then on in order for the DIS to diplay Nav instructions (this is required even after VAGCOM coding)

    Cheers for the quick reply.

2010 map DVD- it's RNS-E MMI 2G i think (the one im getting fitted), this still ok?

I'll ask them about the disk.

Does any of the surround need to be changed on the dash? ie coin tray etc

It can't be "RNS-E MMI 2G", they are 2 totally seperate systems that use different DVD's. You need an RNS-E compatible DVD, an MMI DVD will be useless.

You just the double DIN cage and modified climate panel, nothing else trim wise needs replacing.

TMC is on all 2007 onwards Nav DVD's.

It just lists all 'current' traffic/roadwork/accident situations and will warn you of problems on your selected Navigation route (if selected). It's only as good as the information entered hence it's not always 100% accurate and upto date. As it's free it's better than nothing though.

My understanding was that in the even of a major hold up the sat nav would re route to avoid it.
    Is this not the case?

It'll either warn or re-route depending on which you select
