With this snowly damp weather, I have noticed that my rear seats are soaking wet on my Mk5 Golf (2004). I have checked the windows etc and all are shut tight.

It is obviously coming in through the boot somewhere as my boot is wet too. Also when I lift up the bottom section of my boot ther spare wheel is soaking wet with a puddle of water at the bottom, where the wheel sits.

Looked at all the seals, they look intact. It seems to be dripping down the right hand side of the inside of the boot, coming out where the light is on the inside. Anyone heard of this before?

    Is it common?

Anywhere else it could be coming from ?

it's starting to get annoying when I give people a lift and I have to put down a bin bag to stop them getting soaked!!!

Thanks all and have a good New Year

    Brian

Remove the bung from the "boot well" so you don't collect water.

meant to add if you unscrew the round plastic stops just above the rear lights dry it off and put some silicon on it and refit, that will solve the problem mate

Thanks very much Phil Millar and golf+5 for your replies.

Looks like a bit of a common problem on the mark 5. I had a Mark 4 before this one and, is it me, or was that a better built car !!!!!!. Have had lots of little problems !!!

Never mind. Thanks again, and will do some Silicon ing today

    Regards,

    Brian

Got on fine actually. Took out my boot lining and tyre etc and undid the bungs to get rid of the water, dried it out and removed the two plastic stops and put shed loads of silicon in and round them once they were replaced.

Drying out my boot lining next to the radiator. it's ******* rain tonight so I will check it out in the morning before going to work.

Thanks again, will give you a progress report in a few days to see if it has come back.

May have to take out my seats to dry them as they are soaked !!!!!!
