The steering angle sensor is mounted on the steering shaft. ... It counts the steering-wheel revolutions accordingly, what is the reading of the fault ?you probably just need to calibrate it

the steering on the A3 and golf is a massive amount of info you have the angle sensor on the column and the torque sensor on the neck of the rack, now to set your angle sensor iirc you hold the steering wheel in the dead ahead pos then turn full left hand down and hold, then right hand down to lock, hold then dead ahead, if the light is still on drive in a straight line at about 10mph that should put the light out, the reason the ABS light is on is due to the ABS, ESP and steering rack all sharing info, as soon as you set the angle sensor the ABS light will go out

If you did not remove the battery terminal when you removed the airbag, there will be a fault logged in the control unit. Not quite sure what you mean, and the reason for it when you say you turned the steering wheel 360deg???????????

Then there is a possibility you have destroyed the coil connector with the slip ring
