All in all I'm really enjoying the Allroad but one thing I'd like to get better at is slowing down. The problem I'm finding is that the gear box changes down as I brake for a roundabout or similar and produces a surprising amount engine braking.

I'm used in a manual to either breaking with the clutch down or feeding in the gears, either way I'm finding the auto shifter less smooth as I don't know when it's going to downshift.

Is this something that people get used to or am I missing a trick?

Very impressed with the gear box at all other times, although it's odd being in fourth for a hill that was second in the Laguna.

(And have now realised it's S Tronic not Tiptronic)
