egr bypass - emissions workshop

Hello All,

I have a 2005 passat b5 1.9 tdi 130
Just fitted Allard egr bypass, and emissons workshop warning comes on.
I understand that the ecu has to be rewritten so it does not look for exhaust gases.

I am based nr Swindon. (J16 M4)
Can anyone recommend a company that can help with this?

If not, anyone know of good people in Birmingham area?

I can't see why you would do this. The whole engine map assumes a degree of exhaust gas recirculation. It's not just a case of telling the ecu not to look for egr values.

The reason I want to do something with the car is that I have an 'emissions workshop' warning that comes on every time I start the vehicle, and the yellow engine light is permanently on

I would like this light not to come on, and i understand that the ecu can be rewritten to not look for exhaust gases.

I meant why delete the egr valve at all. This was ok on early cars but is not a good idea on newer models. The whole fueling of the car assumes a degree of exhaust gas recirculation. You can't just tell the ecu to forget the egr. The injection timing, length of injection, MAF figures will have to be adjusted to suit the fact that the egr is gone.

Euro 4 equipped cars require a workshop service message if an EGR system fault is detected, that's the only real EGR difference from older Euro 3 diesels which also monitored EGR by way of the reduction in MAF meter reading but would not care if there was insufficient EGR flow.

I would have thought it could be easily programmed out.

Remove the bypass and get a refund. Get someone with Vagcom to turn down the EGR duty cycle percentage to minimum, no warnings then!
