I have a 2001 1.4 Polo Match and the Horn has stopped working. The MOT Test is due soon so I want to get it working if poss. I've had a good look under the bonnet but can't spot it at all. I will check the fuse box of course but I would like to know where the horn is so I can check the terminals plus any corrosion probs. etc.

It's behind the lower grilles at the front of the car.

Many thanks for your help. When all this rain has gone off I'll have to get on my knees and have a look around. Perhaps it could be all the wet that's caused it to fail ?

Could be. My guess would be a faulty ground though. Check the back of the horn itself to see if the plugs are in properly.

    Good luck

i remember one of my brothers mates having a similar problem on his polo, it turned out to be a simple plug that had come unclipped somewhere, as sam said, id check all plugs, fuses and wiring first

Hello Forum this is my first post.

O great. It's under the front grilles.

There is an intermittent fault on my horn. I don't think it's the steering wheel end because I've brightened up the copper switch contacts. Now that I know where it is I will check the contacts for oxidisation, clean them up and hopefully have a fully functional horn before the MOT test.

Clean them up! Easier said than done. The positioning of the horn is between the radiator and the lower bumper. It is only accessable from underneath the car and then with great difficulty.

Is it more feasible to wire up a new horn that can be easily accessed?
