Because your information display is not working, its impossible to even guess what might be wrong, it should still talk through the diagnostic socket.

Yes it could be a frozen connector, if the metal, in a suspect connection,
contracts with extreme cold, it can fail to connect, but there are hundreds
of them, and pulling the car apart to check them all, would do more damage.

You could try warming the car-up, with a small blow-heater, for a few hours.

    Regards
    Jim

I'm pleased to say that my car is runnung again. Thanks very much for your suggestions, especially Yaman. I put a fan heater in for about 90 mins and when I put the ignition key in, everything was back to normal. Ive just got to dig it out from the snow now!
    Thanks again
    Dave

Glad to hear your running again, but there is a weakness somewhere,
being triggered by the low temperatures, I would strongly advise you
to get a code read done, to see whats failing.

    Regards
    Jim

The last time I used it (about a week before), I noticed that after I had scraped off the ice from the windscreen, there was still ice on the inside, so I had to warm up the car before I could drive it. I guess that this moisture inside the car is the problem.which I need to solve. Has anybody else had this and, if so, what was the cause. I know of a guy with a VW that had the flooded battery syndrome, for which there has been a recall on my model. Unfortunateley mine flooded before I was notified, so I had to buy a new battery, whereupon I found the problem - four buckets of water in the battery compartment. I keep an eye on it now and we've had no rain. so I don't believe that's what's causing my dampness.

A lot of the water, from the flooded battery compartment, has most likely
ended-up under the front passenger-side carpet, where a complex
    device called CCM lives.

This water would become a block of ice, and entomb wires, plugs and
    maybe the CCM.

Lift the carpet and dry it out.

    Regards
    Jim
