Hi there, looking for some advice/reassurance.

I have a 2006 06 Reg 2.0TDI Sport Touran which had the usual ESP problem and consequently the ABS Pump unit changed in June 2008 under warranty at about 20k miles.

The ESP light is on again and it is booked into the dealer on Monday 13/12. Current mileage is 42k and is just over 4.5 years old. I expect the same outcome.

    I have 2 questions:

    1. Would the ABS unit have been replaced in 2008 with an identical item or an updated one due to this being a common/known fault?

    2. My car has FSH with a VW dealer but I declined the Brake Fluid change at the last service last year. Obviously I now regret not getting this changed and expect the dealer/VW to reduce the offer of good will. I intend arguing that I was under the impression that the brake fluid was changed when the ABS unit was changed out in 2008. Do you think this is the road I should go down?

I previously bought a new golf in 1999 from this dealer and had it serviced with them for the 7 years I owned it. I then bought the Touran at 7 months old and have since had it serviced with them. So a fair bit of loyalty

I am expecting a fight, but will give it my best shot!!!!!

Anybody else had 2 failures with the ABS unit on their Golf mk5 or Touran?

    Thanks for your interest
    JC

    UPDATE:

Car went in and sure enough requires new ABS Unit required. VW offered 50% of parts and labour therefore £589 instead of £1178.

The very helfull lady at Specialist cars Abedeen, suggested I called VW Customer Servies myself. This I did but basically had no joy as the sevice history was not complete. It was actually 2 months over the 2 years on the second service (hadn't noticed this) however there was no mention of the brake fluid not being changed at the last service.

Back on to the dealer and asked if they could do anything. They offered a further 10% contriution and said VW would do the same based on customer loyalty. Therefore total cost of £354 which I was happy enough with. The Touran was left as the ABS unit was not in stock.

I then got a phone call from Specialist Cars saying VW were now going to pay 100%. To say I am chuffed is an understament.

Specialist Cars have been great, and it just shows that persitence and politeness pays. Just away to collect the car and buy a box of chocolates for Christine at Specialist cars!!!
