    during the recent code spell my air bag light came on & off intermittently
    Just had the codes read..
    01578 Passenger side deactivation warning lamp .. 009 open or short to ground, anyone any idea where this could be ?

    There's a lamp in the ceiling of mine (next to the map reading light) which says "Passenger airbag deactivated" if I turn the airbag off with the switch in the glovebox.

    So it could be between the switch and the light, or the light and the control module. I'd try looking in the headlining (you should be able to get a look in there by removing the interior light cluster)

    (Mine's a 2000 A6 2.4 SE)

    Thanks, I'll turn off the switch in the glovebox and see if a light comes on, maybe a bit of condensation whilst so cold
