Have had a major issue with the car where when driving along an ESP Fault error appears on the DIS followed by a complete loss of drive (Multitronic) at which point it is a case of coasting to the nearest pull in with hazrds on, waiting a few minutes testing reverse and then drive and pulling away again. This appears to happen every couple of miles. First time it happened it then would not start at all. Suspect that it is a gremlin in the electronics somewhere - has anyone else had this?

Personally I think it is incredibly dangerous that the car will just lose drive with no warning at all. ANyway I have now taken it to the dealer before an accident and just haveto sit and wait to find out what the problem is. Car has about 78k miles and hither to has been pretty reliable - only other thing that I get intermittently at the moment is the PRNDS all light up for a few miles and then go out again. Does anyone think these could be linked.

Keen to hear of anyone else's experiences and to see how painful the delaer repair is likely to be - not good news I'm sure - but all dealers locally have no courtesy vehicles and cannot have a look at it until the new year so I'm a bit stuffed...

    Any advice welcomed.

Update: Audi dealership have advised that the fault is with the Power Control ECU, apparently this sends the right voltages round the car to the other electronics and had failed. Seems a bit curious, but there we go. £500 for the part plus labour to fix and not covered by Warranty Direct :-(

Hopefully this will fix it though as don't want to be in the position where it reoccurs or that they then discover that this is not the fault... fingers crossed.

What was the outcome, did this fix help, because I've not seen any further posts since your update.
