Mystery Coolant loss

Hi all,

My Passat 1.9 TDi (ATJ) has sprung a leak, its a difinite leak as when its warm it's dripping from the belly panel.
I've had the panels off and looked and it appears to be running down from above the starter motor but can't see anything.
Its in with a mechanic at the moment and he can't see where its coming from either.
Can anyone out there shed any light on this? Or has anyone had the same problem?
There is no sign of Head Gasket leak/damage and there's no fault codes showing, its a mystery.

the common place is at the very bottom of the radiator they usually let go there

Its an auto-box, so it might be gearbox coolant pipes.

Sorry, i should have said bell-housing mounted coolant pipes.

Not sure if there's an engine-oil cooler feed-pipe beside bell-housing,
on a ATJ.

The EGR is water-cooled, check the feed-pipe.

Take a look at the side coolant flange as the o ring is a common source and it runs around the bell housing. Replace the flange as well though if it is that.

An old post but I too have a loss of coolamt that is proving difficult to trace. Can you be more specific about the flange you mentioned please ?
