I wonder if anyone can help with this.....

I have a 1999 Golf GT TDI 110 5dr. The problem im having is that when i unlock the car with the remote it unlocks fine and disables the alarm. But when i have opened either the front driver and passenger door or boot the car isnt recognising the fact that they are open or have been opened, so it tries to lock itself again and ultimately setting the alarm off. The interior light, small door light and boot light dont come on either although the bulbs are fine. The car does however recognise the fact that you have opened the door when i open either of the rear doors, the interior light comes on and it doesnt try to lock itself or set the alarm.

Ive come across the common fault with the microswitches, but cant see how it would be possible for both the drivers, passenger and boot switches to fail, and at £94.00 each its not worth trying to replace them to find that they arent at fault. Any help would be appreciated guys.

    Thanks

VAGCOM hooked into the CCM will display the status of all the door lock switches in real time. This is the way to start.

Hi Slim, I had the same problem on mine, have you got in the car yet after its locked itself and set the alarm? Its a bit embarrasing at 5am when youre getting in the car to go to work, in the colder weather when the car was a bit iced up i would open the car get the window scraper out leave the door open, de ice the windscreen then get in, after the car had locked itself and put the alarm on. Let me tell you it wakes you up in the morning
anyway mate I managed to sort the drivers door out with WD40 just spraying it into the lock mechanism and opening /closing the door it must have been a sticky switch, the tailgate is still the same I need to take the mechanism off and try to free the switch, however the tailgate switch is knackered because the rear washer assembly was squirting water all over it which i had to repair ,still havnt got round to fixing the lock switch yet but the tailgate really isnt much of a hassle not like the drivers door was. Hope this is of help to you

Well i think iv solved the problem with the tailgate. The pipe for the washer fluid had split and leaked all over the the locking mechanism corroding the wire connections. But still havent managed to solve the front doors. Tried the WD40 in the mechanism still no joy.Anymore suggestions guys its doing my head in

I was finishing off fixing the washer hose in the tailgate this afternoon and noticed a plug that had nothing connected to it. Iv attached a picture, anyone know what its for??

I also noticed today that when i unlock the car with the remote the indicators flash twice and works fine all the time. But when i lock the car the indicators flash once, but sometimes they dont flash at all is this normal or is there something else wrong?

When the lights do not flash the locking\arming process is not complete. It's all connected with the door lock issue.
Do they flash if you just press lock again ?

Yes they do flash when i press lock again. I also listened today when locking the car, i can here the drivers doors deadlocks when i press lock once, then when i press it again the passenger doors deadock. Do you think i have a problem with both door lock modules or just one of them?
