    Hi,
anyone know if this is a simple job as in accessable from under the car or do I have to put the front bumber into the 'service position' and remove the aux belt to get to the oil cooler?

It's under the steering pump, simple to change but what is wrong with yours. Regards Peter

    Hi Peter,
I just have a very small amount of oil in the water, its made the coolant go kind of rusty/muddy.
Theres a bit of 'mayo' type emusified oil under the water cap too.....very small amount but the engine oil is clean and no water in engine.

Does this sound about right? Please dont say its a head gasket! lol

Difficult to be sure. You could remove the cooler and have it pressure tested. However the front needs to go into the service position as the A/C compessor has to be dropped to gain acess to the pump bracket and the cooler. Regards Peter

I cant see it being the head gasket, I've drove about 40k miles with it doing this without getting much worse, just changed the coolant a couple of times wondering why its getting a bit oily.

Just to double check though, to take off the oil cooler on my engine and change it, I DONT have to put the front end into the service position do I? haha

To get at the cooler you have to drop the A/C pump and to do that you have to move the front into the service position as the belt has to come off. You may be able to pressure test the cooler ( water side ) in situ but I have not done that before. Regards Peter

Take a look if you can bypass the cooling, either by coupling the pipes together or adding a length of pipe. Run the car for a few days and see if the cooler fills with oil. Regards Peter
