    Two Questions........

I have noticed that my car does not always start when I turn the ignition on, press the clutch down and turn the key further and the MFD still say s press clutch to start........ Any one else have this or is this a fault. I often have to try 3-4 times especially in cold weather.

Also, Does anyone else find the sunroof control difficult. You really cannot know when its in the closed position. If you use it at night (which I often do with the heater on), it has no lights to close on the knob. I have often closed to where I think it should be but then find its one notch too far either way and have to get back in the car to close properly. Annoying!

I've never had any problems with the clutch, it always starts fine for me.

Haven't got the sunroof, so can't comment on that.

Having owned a MK5 Golf with a sunroof and a marvellous sunroof control knob with a light feel and a very definite notch when in the closed position, I find the one in my MK6 an abomination in that I have to look up at every time I use it as there is no indication which way to turn it. And as you say, there is no way of telling when it arrives back in the fully closed position. It really is a dog to use unlike in my previous Golf.
I can't give the answer to your clutch/start problem - see the dealer would be my suggestion.

Agree the sunroof control leaves a lot to be desired. The round knob does not give the same "fore and aft" direction indication compared to the old MK4 knob with the straight projection on it. It's quite easy to be one index "click" out. Important to check it's properly shut / sealed if it's likely to rain later !
In addition I've found closure problems if you switch the engine off and then just turn "ignition" on to close roof as you would with a window.I know that you can use the remote key to close the windows but I never use it for this purpose as it fairly quickly drains the lithium battery due the extended time you have to hold the key button down.

I agree with the over use of the remote to close/open windows/sunroof etc. as it drains the coin cell battery quickly. I'd only use it that way in exceptional circumstance for example had I locked the car up and then found the sunroof still open - only happened once in over 5 years fo far.

I have to press the clutch pedal ALL the way before the engine will start but it always starts 1st time every time.

There was no problem at all with the rotary sunroof control on the MK5. It was a joy to use and always knew the status of the sunroof's position.

I've got to agree with you all on the sunroof control. Its terrible compared to the control I had on my MK4. With that one you knew exactly when it was in the position you wanted it.

On the MK4 it had 'notches' for closed, open and fully open. Simples! (argh!)

The new control is inferior. There are no notches for feedback. You do know when its open and fully open, as you have to hold it in position for fully open. Thats acceptable. As for closed, no idea what so ever!

As they say, don't fix it if it ain't broke.
