    Hi all,

Whilst im awaiting for my new A3 Quattro to turn up (for work), I decided that my present fleet of vehicles wasnt enough!
So went out and bought a 2000 A4 2.8 Quattro, its done 106,000 miles, still drives well, good gearbox, needs a few bits and pieces, such as a new set of brake discs, the bushes on the roll bars changing etc.

The body is fine as is the interior (the boot needs a repaint as does the rear bumper,).

Now, it goes like stink now, but, I would like to get a few more horses out of the old girl.

Can any of chaps out there advise me what would be the best course of actions to achieve some more power.

Also I have 205/55/16s fitted at the moment, can I increase these to 225/50/16, using the sane rim?

    Cheers

    ringo

I'm not a tuning expert but I looking quickly at google it doesn't look like these engines are particularly tunable.

A remap is only going to get you about 15Bhp extra, about 26Nm on Torque though. That will cost about £200.

After that a replacement air filter and exhuast aren't going to add much, certainly not without the remap as well. Not sure on the price for this but I bet a decent exhuast is going to be mega bucks, and wont add much.

The next step is replacing the cams, however given the variable valve timing on these engines I don't know if people even make fast road cams for this engine. Plus you will need 4 of them so the cost will be high.

Personally I would slap on a K & N and get it remapped. That will give you a little bit of extra power and torque for not much outlay.

Anything above that is going to require a lot of cash and would probably workout cheaper to put a more powerful engine in.
