    Dear all,

i've just purchased a Golf and would like to tune the engine.

I like the idea of a tuning box, as it can be removed without hassle.

    I have a few questions:

    • Are these chip boxes any good?
    • Which boxes makes are good and which are bad?
    • Are there any adjustments on these things?

    Regards, Rowland

    Hi Rowland.

If you'd like to give me a call I'll be happy to explain the differences between a tuning box and a remap, and to answer your questions. We can (and do) supply both solutions so I can assure you you'll get an unbiased comparison between the two so that you can make your decision that is right for you.

i can only share my experience i am driving a remapped gt model and my very good friend has standard model once i got it remapped the car tunr in to a diffirent car it respond much bettereven in low revs more responsive top end way better now and on the motorway when u crusing u get better mpg.

but bad point my gearbox box is becoming more and more noisy it is a old car so i cantreally say it is because of the remap

strongly suggest make sure your timing belt is in good condition whatever you do get the abs pump bleed if necessary.
