i had to run some wires behind the glovebox today so disconnected it to take it out of the car , now the abs light is on , is it because i disconnected the wiring loom to the glovebox , do i need to take it to the dealers to get it turned off

Glovebox removal shouldnt affect ABS light. It may affect the Airbag light. Are you sure which warning light is on?

Anyone with VAGCOM or other diagnostic equipment can clear the light, Doesnt have to be your local dealer.

Yes, you'll need to go to a dealer or somebody with access to VAG COM.
