Is it just my car or does anyone else get loads of condensation on the inside of the windows?

I never see it on my car (IS200) but my wifes Polo is a nightmare!

None of the carpets seem wet, so I don't think there is a leak, but you never know!

The only thing I can think of is that there is a small amount getting in around the roof aerial rubber seal, as this has perished and split - does anyone know if this is easy to replace?

I don't know if water usually makes its way down the window seals or something and collects?

Also, does this car (6N2 1.4 TDi Polo) have a pollen filter, as I know other cars (namely the Focus) have a common leak in this area?

I have exactly the same with my year 2000, 6N2 Polo 1.4 Tdi. Sorry to resurrect an old thread -- but I see nobody replied...

I have condensation that forms quite a thick layer of ice inside the windscreen when temperatures drop. As a result, I can't go anywhere for the 10 or 15 minutes it takes to melt the ice.

It's a pain. Polo experts -- do we just put up with this, or are there things to check?

In warmer temperatures, such as now, I think I can feel a little dampness in the passenger footwell and greater dampness in the driver's footwell. I'm not 100% sure because it is also where my (wet?) feet have been. The dampness in the footwells is still there a week later if the car is unused, but it's slight -- I don't have the wet footwells described in other threads on this site.

A couple of months ago, I had dampness on the left-hand side of the boot carpet -- but this might not be the culprit because there has been no repeat. The condensation is a constant, though, and at this time of year it freezes.

Extra fact: my car has an electric sunroof. If I sit in it when a hose is played over the car in a hand car wash, I see spots of moisture on the front passenger seat. The rest of the time, however, the seat is dry.

Short-term question: am I safe to use deicer on the inside of the windscreen? Will it damage the dashboard plastics?

Real question: where does water get into Polos of this generation and what can be done?

Yours in hope... thanks for reading...
