    Hi There,
My A6 seems to be getting a water leak in the passenger side foot well. Behind the glove box panel is plastic pipe with foam around it and the leak seems to be come from there. It seems to leak after it's rains a lot. Is this a common problem on the A6 and does any one know how I could fix this please?
Thanks for any help you can give.
    Mark.

Search on "Plenum Chamber" in the forum and you will find it all there. The two drain bungs have blocked up with leaves and debris, and the plenum chamber ( where the battery and brake servo fit ) fills up with water and then enters the pollen filter housing and entering the car. Get if fixed soon as the Convience Control unit CCM (ECU) is located under the passenger side carpet. If the car is outside to night then syphon the water out of the chamber and use cling film to cover the lower section of screen and upper bonnet. Regards Peter

    Hi There,
I removed the battery and cleaned the drainage holes, which were full of leaves, however it's still leaking in the passengers side footwell . Does anyone know why this is happening?
Thanks for any help you can give.

the leak is air conditioning condensate. turn your aircon off and the leak should stop. the problem is that the water should drain but the rubber flap that should open under the weight of water is stuck shut causing the water to build up and leak from the foam. to replace this valve or free it as i did, you need to work from under the car and from what I remember the exhaust heat shield has to be removed or pulled away to access the rubber flap which is on the left side of the tunnel. l will try and find some pictures if you can't find it.

Thanks for the info. Pics would be great. Would the condensation build up with the heater on?

Yes. Not as much as on a hot humid day, but the climate system still uses it to dehumidify the air (which is why the car mists up if you push the 'eco' button)

Yes it would if the aircon is on. Aircon can heat as well as cool. Switch the econ button on to switch the aircon off.

Also check the seal underneath the pollen filter housing. The one on my A6 had perished and was letting water in when it rained. You will also need to lift the carpet in the footwell to dry it out properly. There is sound deadening foam attached to the underside of the carpet and this acts like a big sponge. The convenience ECU sits in a small well under the carpet that also fills with water, make sure that is dry as well. HTH.
