Your mechanic is talking out of his hat.

The minimum oil pressure at idiling speed should be 2.0 Bar,
at 2000 Rpm it should be between 2.7 and 4.5 Bar.

At 1.5 bar you are down on oil pressure slightly. Just because the oil light isn't on doesn't mean you don't have a problem. The oil pressure switch could be faulty.

It could be the strainer on the pick up pipe is blocked. I know the 1.8T engines suffer from this badly, not sure about 2.0.

I would take it somewhere else for a second opinion.

If you were supposed to have 7 bar you would have problems keeping the oil IN the engine LOL!! He`s got his info wrong anyway!

I went to colect the car today, they keept saying that is should be 7bar when the engine is hot and idling, the oil pressure switch faulty I am guessing it would show on a vag com scan which it dosen t,the mechanic are actualy an audi vw specialist just outside Norwich,I was talking to a audi mechanic from a different country,he was saying 1.5bar is just fine and I should worry if it drops below 1bar,any way I going to leaveit for now, worst case scenario recon engine 1200£ fitted +warranty,no way I am going to spend 700£on the oil pump and another 700 for them to clean my engine and fit the pump
    Thanks for the reply s

A faulty oil pressure switch wouldn't neccessarily show in a fault code scan, although it is likely to.

1.5 Bar is below spec but if an Audi mech. thinks that is ok then leave it. Certainly wouldn't be fitting a new oil pump.

The garage may well be a VAG Specilist but it sounds like the guy you got is a blithering idiot. 7 Bar at idle is mental. As Alan has said above your enigne would struggle to handle that pressure.

I would suggest to him he reads the relevant page in ElsaWin for your engine. He is talking pony.

The idle pressure is slightly low but I would not worry unduly.

Minimum oil pressure at idling speed: 2.0 bar
Minimum oil pressure at 2000 rpm: 2.7 ... 4.5 bar.

No its not right. If they don't even know (or bother to look up) the correct pressure values then how can they be so sure the pump is faulty. Bunch of chancers in my opinion
