    Hi folks

The drivers side window of my wife's 1999 A4 Avant Tdi just stopped working all of a sudden - the other 3 windows are fine - any ideas what it might be?

Does it have a fuse or will I be needing a replacement motor - there is no noise at all when you press the button - fortunately it is stuck closed but still needs to be sorted.

    Thanks

You can rule out fuse anyway, as they work in pairs.

Fuse 37 for the front windows
Fuse 43 for the rear windows

It could be a faulty switch, broken wire, motor. If you can hear nothing then your regulator is prob ok.

You could check wiring around where the door hinges to see if there is any problem there.

After that your prob looking at taking off the door card.

Switch can be tested quite easily with a meter or just swap wiring on switch with one of the 3 good window switches.
You can test the motor with a 12v supply or again just check that you are getting 12v to motor terminals with a meter when you engage switch
