Sometimes it opens the first time, sometimes the 2nd and sometimes I have to open the passenger door and pull the lid open on its edge.

The motor always makes a noise so it may need the latch adjusting.

Any ideas how to fix it please?

There is an adjustment for the cable at the motor end but the glove box has to come out. Regards Peter

There is a manual release just behind the removeable side panel where you insert a 6mm drill shank to open the glove box. This may be jamming and stopping the lid opening, do not force it open with the lid you are going to break something. Regards Peter

This is an old thread but can someone share how to remove the glove box I'm sure Gups told me that the battery has to be disconnected but not sure. This lid on mine releases very slowly
Gups maybe you can enlighten people as to the fix.

Awk well, since you realise its an old thread unlike 99% of the other people who bump old threads lol

I think if you have a look here VW AUDI Forum - VWAF it may explain how to remove it.

I know on my A3 it is 8 8mm bolts.

You'll see the P/N for the glovebox brake & the diagrams for the mod I was showing you on my old one to make it work properly, after I replaced it ...
