Do a search on Ebay, leads and software are available to obtain the SKC (about £20 with delivery).

With the right equipment, you can lift it from the
    instrument cluster-immobilizer. But you might
need VAG-COM to get it to go back in again.

Try a vag specialist or tuning shop, near you,
    for a call-out service.

    Regards
    Jim

You can get the code with VAGCommander software and cable (not the same as vag-com/VCDS) and I think you can with VAG-Tacho software too. "reading security access code of immobilizer"

You can get it from ebay.....

I'm confused. If you haven't changed the cluster, why would you need an skc. The immobiliser is in the cluster so your keys are still coded to that cluster. The engine ecu just needs the same coding that the original engine ecu had. You can do that with VCDS. It's only got a few settings like transmission, country etc.

When you try to start the car, what happens and what fault code do you get. Are you sure it is not the cluster that is faulty. Did you save the coding from the old engine ecu before you removed it. If not, it should be possible to work it out as long as you have the engine code. I can't see why you need numbers from the new engine ecu as it will still be set for the previous car.
