Boot won't open

I think this is a fairly common problem with the Passat as I am sure I have seen threads on here asking the same thing. However a search of the forum brought up nothing.

To be honest I have always found the search function on this forum to be pretty useless so apology's if this is a frequent question being asked.

How do I get into the boot to repair it when it won't open?

If all the electronic boot functions, (remote,drivers door-lock,
drivers door switch) don't work, and you don't have folding
rear seats... try pushing down on the boot as you turn the
key in the boot-lock.

If that fails, I would have a look at the wires leading to the
ccm, under the passenger seat, also the wires that live
under the rear passenger-side carpet, for corrosion.

Also drivers door lock module.

But then again... if it's a mechanical breakage within the lock
mechanism....you might need a can-opener
