    Hi Guy's

Bought an A4 2,8 Quattro Avant on a 98 R plate last week for the winter. When I arrived to collect it (private sale) a dude in overalls was under the bonnet cause the car wouldn't run. It would start and 2 secs later cut out.

Got th good old AA guy out who plugged in a diagnostic bit of kit and gave him some ideas to try. Cutting it short, he turned the ignition on to stage 2 I think and left it for 10 mins. Started and ran and has run since. (Obviously with stopping in between journeys!!!) Interestingly though the sewcond key does not work even with this fix and has been diagnosed as 'faulty and in need of replacement'. These aparently are best doen at Audi who will charge you handsomely for the privaledge. It is the transponder in the key not communicating with the immobiliswer and so cuts the engine.

Hope this helps as it worked for my new snow chariot!
