Went out to the car this morning to find heavy condensation inside the windscreen, not really what I would expect for a 4 year old car. Heavy dew and about 5 deg outside.

The carpets seem dry so I can't see where it could be getting wet. It needed wiping down before the aircon could take care of the rest. A/C seemed fine but I was wondering if anyone knows of problems with particular filters, seals or drains anywhere?

I'll try and get it in the garage and stick a dehumidifier in it, but no good until I trace where the moisture is getting in.

(I did previously have this problem, but much worse, on a Seat which turned out to be a leak at the firewall - Seat had to put in all new carpets and soundproofing under warranty.)

Its an 06 140 TDi Estate with a full VW service.

I would check that the pollen filter cover has been put back correctly. Also I used to have a Seat Leon, that used to leak via the door seals..

Have you felt under the carpets? If there is water getting in it will run down and go straight under them.

When I had this problem with my SEAT we ended up up having the carpets and underlay stripped out by the dealer and replaced under warranty as it was a known fault which they had not addressed.

As your car is an estate I would look in the spare wheel well for a pond. Every time you open the tail gate in rain, a little water runs off the tail gate into the boot. Sometimes enough collects in the wheel well to cause condensation. For some reason, on the B6, this always shows up at the windscreen first.

I'm going to put the car in the garage overnight and then strip out all the carpets tomorrow to see if i can find any damp. After that, I'll put a dehmidifier in to dry everything out then try and see where it reoccurs.

I was wondering if anything gets in or if any problems are casused by the aircon system?

Make sure the windows are all fully done up, a slight gap will allow the weather in, mine was frosted over in the garage the other day where the weather has been so extreme lately.

Yes, i find it infuriating that there isn't auto closure on the alarm/key to close all the windows without having to stand there with your finger on the key.
