Hi got a new thermostat fitted to my a4 1.9 tdi the other day because temp gauge wast only sitting at 70,now it sits bang on 90 but after driving about 60 mile coolant warning came on so i stopped and it was low so topped it up and caried on by time i got home it had only went down a tiny bit, following day i did same journey and coolant went down in reservoir about half inch, now few days later its not going down atall,it whent back to garage this morning and he told me theres no leaks it must of been an air lock thats caused it to drop.
Does this sound possible as iam a bit nervous about letting girlfriend loose in car if its needing topped up,seems ok now

    dont use radweld
find out where your problem is and repair
did it leak any fluid b4 the stat was changed ?
if not id be back again and again till they sorted the problem
or pay a diff garage to sort it
worst thing to have in this weather is a coolant leak

it never leaked before the thermostat was changed, the problem is when i take it back they drive it a few miles about town and level doesnt drop atall in reservoir so they tell me its fine, then i go drive car for 1 - 2 hours and level drops about inch do that a few days and coolant warnings back on and reservoirs almost empty, how can it leak after stat change its just a o ring seal around it isnt it

The system needs pressure testing (quick job) but I'd get another garage to do it and don't mention about the stat , let them come to their own conclusion, this should be about half hour labour!
It could well be an air lock, does your heater blow hot air when demanded?
