A remap would give a lot of benefits such as mpg improvement, increased power and better response from the auto gearbox.

We are in the process of updating the database but this can be very time consuming which is why your car is not showing.

Yes I also agree that we may be too far from you as you are in guildford as that is a long drive.

Had a look at your site, I see you do a 3.0 tdi 204, but think my 2007 avant is a 233? Also you may be a bit far away... I'm Guildford?

Well, I had my Avant Auto (06) 3.0TDI remapped last year by Ben at Shark Performance and all I can say is it has made a massive difference. I almost always drive in 'sport' anyway and the gear changes are fast without any computer lag as you are quoting. My car out accelerates almost anything apart from supercars. And I don't need to floor it to get an instant response with the low-down grunt from the torque being simply amazing. I can honestly say I've driven a variety of performance manuals and auto and this is the most responsive car I've ever had since being remapped. The 3.0 TDI is a beautiful engine and well suited to remapping.

You ask is there any point in remapping a 3.0 TDI auto? Most definitely YES......... many times over.

As a general rule, is it recommended to remap a car with 120K kms on the clock?

If you're having the remap carried out for better flexibility, removal of flat spots, better responsiveness and improved fuel economy a well balanced remap is going to be fine on most engines with 120k kms on the clock. You just need to be sure your engine has been well maintained, and then continue to maintain it well after the remap too. Regular oil changes with quality products are always a wise investment.

Most remaps done by a reputable company will take into account sensible tuning limits that will not over-strain the engine or components. If you go for some kind of 'ultimate power' remap then you'll be taking more of a risk. Only 'racers' should go for maximum power remaps - and they should be aware of the potential for increased wear just like any other kind of high-level power upgrade might induce.

Thanks, car is well maintained and will be of course after the remap. Oil changes are every 15K kms will it be OK?
What power increase should I expect of a well balanced remap?

    Hi again

You don't mention which engine you have, but generally with a turbo-diesel you are looking at 25% to 30% increase in bhp and 20% to 25% increase in torque. If you'd like to take a look at my website, in the 'vehicles' section, you will be able to check what you can expect for your engine.

Oil changes at 15k km are going to be fine. Without checking, it already sounds like that is more often than the recommended period. Keep it up! Good oil in good condition is essential for any diesel, remapped or not.

Obviously I can't help with a remap in Greece, but just make sure you find a remapper that looks professional and has a 'proper' business. One basic check you can always make is to see if they will allow you to go to them for the remap if you wanted to. i.e. is their address on the website in the contact section?

    Cheers
