I have recently discovered patches off oil on the drive way and took the car to the garage to try to find this leak but getting many different answers...i have recently had the gearbox changed and got told that it was the gearbox leaking and to have it checked out immediately....so off i went back to birmingham to get it checked out and found that this was fine. i have since been told there is a seal on the back off the engine which may have gone does anybody know off this problem occuring or has anybody experienced this...

If the rear crankshaft oil seal is leaking you will get oil driping from between the engine and the gearbox bell casing.

Have you taken the tray off to see where the leak is?
Front near/passenger side corner will be collected intercooler oil.

If it's the TDI 130 check your intercooler piping connections as could be just seapage - as it was in my case a faulty connector which was chucking out quite alot of crud which dripped down and appeared to be an oil leak.

Assuming you can locate the turbo....follow the large diameter rubber pipe from under the turbo downwards. It's a large diameter pipe wich loops around the engine.

You will need to remve the top plastic engine cover, if not already removed, and probably the under tray cover.

If you've had the gearbox done recently, then something may have been dislodged as a result, so I am only saying check the intercooler pipe joins to rule it out.

I have exactly the same symptoms, oil dripping from the bell housing.
I reckon the clutch is contaminated as it's quite easy to induce clutch slip so I'm changing the clutch, DMF and oil seal this Saturday.
