    Hi

For the first time ever the temp gauge on my car has started to fluctuate slightly... it always used to steadily warm up to the exact middle (upright) position and stay there. Today as I drove it dipped back down a tad... then back up... then back down... it never went over the mid line... just under.

    Should I be worried?

No not always, temp gauge fluctuations are usually caused by the sender or stat,as you say the temp is building up slowly and to 90 as normal before dipping down I would say its the sender, its cheapest to fix anyway so its advisable to change it first.

    Morning!

I actually called the Audi garage yesterday to make a booking to get this looked into. They said it's normal for the temp to drop a little below 90 on the gauge and then go back up again.

Basically my gauge stays on 90 most of the time... but occasionally drops a bit lower... then goes back up again...the service advisor said this was OK and to be expected at this chilly time of year...

This is the sixth VAG car I have owned and all the previous ones stayed at 90 constantly after the engine warmed up...

    Mmmmmmm

Doesnt sound right to me, All my VAG cars (10+) have stayed at 90 and never move from 90 once they are warmed up, even in the harshest winter.

How far from 90 does yours drop? Back towards 70? Or just a mm down from 90?
