Dear Experts, What is the correct amount/volume of engine oil required for a 2005 audi a4 2.0 TDI (140BHP) engine? I don't have a user manual to know the exact specification. Many thanks, Paddy.

    Well if it's a 2 litre engine, it'd be 2 litres

Just top it up and use the dipstick to see when it's reached between the min and max levels.

3.8 is correct you certainly do need to leave some out, put about three lts in then add the rest slowly till it comes on the dip stick, start the engine to fill up the oil filter housing, then switch off, allow to settle for half n hour then re dip it and add oil a bit as a time to get it between the low n high, its too expensive to waste!,also over filling is not recommended,so just take your time. PS what oil are you putting in?

Hi Nevo, I think I used 5w30 fully synthetic (it definately had a 5w part to it.) It was what they gave me at the auto-store. I'll get back to you later this evening when I get home to check the type and manufacture of oil.

    Hi all,

the engine oil i used was 5w40 Valvoline synthetic blend. I mistakenly said 5W30 in a previous post.

    it says on the back:

" DuraBlend Diesel SAE 5W-40, API: CF, ACEA:B3/B4, Ford M2C-917A, MB-Approval, Approved under VW standard 505.00/505.01"
