I am going to have cruise control fitted to my TDi Sport and so far my local VW garage has quoted £190 for parts and fitting, Seems a little steep to me as the kit is £75 and I remember my local Skoda dealer quoting £140 for fitting the same to an Octavia. What is the going rate for having it fitted ? and does anyone know of any garages near Plymouth that could fit it ?

have a look on ebay, there is a company that does it and charges from memory about 140 pound, they do charge to come out, past the M25. I am going to use them when i get it done, and a couple have posted on here stating that they had also used them and that they done a good job.

i tapped in passat cruise contol and it came straight up. £149.99. but they charge to come out past the M25 so it probably wont be far off what you have been quoted.

Have a look at site sponsors Awesome Gti, they fitted a cruise control kit to my 2004 Passat for £115 all in a few months back and I would highly recommend them. I found them on Ebay but I see they have recently joined this site. The only problem is they are in Manchester so some distance away for you.

Just fitted Cruise Control to my 2006 A3 TD1 (8P chassis) - did the mechanics myself following excellent guide by SiJones on Audi-Sport.net - clear pics, esp. removal of steering module unit! Thanks.
Cost was £85 for switch and cover (T.P.S.- genuine Audi )+ £55 for independant VagCom (1 hour) recoding wasnt straightforward as steering module had to be reprogrammed too. So total was about the same as a fitted price of £140 ! At £115 I would rip his hand off!! but had to DIY ! so depends on how you feel about ripping bits off.
There was NO wiring to do though, just plug in and recode.
Works well - eases MPG to 55 @75 mph over 2 hrs - sweet!

The Passat is quite a different setup to the Octavia & the MK5 Golf
It requires the loom to be installed into the ECU on the Bulkhead
