    Hi Guys,

    I have noticed some similar topics out there but my problem does vary slighty.

    Over the last few days I have noticed a symptom similar to a dying battery when I have been turning the engine over.

    Yesterday It would not even start, there were no sounds at all. I thought it may be the battery but a quick test identifies that it is fine. I then thought it was the starter motor, and when looking at it i discovered the thick wire coil between the motor and solanoid was completely broken, I went to the scrap yard and grabbed a recon unit (from a guy I trust) and have just put this in. Eagerly I jumped into the car to turn it over and I discovered that it was still showing the same symptoms;

    when the ignition key turns on everything lights up and then extenguishes as it is meant to, i then turn it to point three to start the engine but I don't get anything trying to start. I can take the starter motor out and replace it with another one of the scrap yards but I don't think I should go down this route yet.

    What I have discovered is that there is a electronic noise that follows three rapid clicks when I turn the engine on and this noise is not a consistant hum but sounds more like something struggling.....this is coming from around the central area of the engine on an SDI (2000) in or underneith the black plastic unit (injectors?)?!?

    I really need help with this as Im quickly running out of funds and do not know what else to do!

    I did recieve this responce when i posted in the wrong section by accident.

    "i found a thick fuse behind the drivers panel below the steering wheel in the fuse and relay box which is connected to the car starting, check this first before taking out the starter motor."

    My return question was, is that the relay section if so can you remember which one may relate to this issue? i.e. relay 109 etc.?

    This is very helpful information as it didnt even occur to me to look there.

    Thanks!

    I have now tried a ignition switch with no luck.

    Is there a relay that relates to the starter i.e. 109 - 103 etc etc. I really really need help! There is a chance the recon starter motor is duff and I have the option to replace it for another and will do this if I have to.

    ANY ADVICE/HELP WOULD BE AWESOME as I really am stuck!!
